Principles of Nature
This lecture gives you an overview of the Seven Principles of Nature. These laws are religious and scientific facts, that influence to everything from nothing. The following chapters introduce the seven Principles of Nature separately, but do remember that they are parts of a system and highly related. These principles form a great deal of the eternal law that e.g. Jesus and many sacred texts refer to.
- Principle of Mentalism
- Principle of Correspondence
- Principle of Vibration
- Principle of Polarity
- Principle of Rhythm
- Principle of Cause and Effect
- Principle of Gender
The Principle of mentalism
According to the principle of mentalism, everything in cosmos is mental. Anything we see or touch is only a matter of sensory perception, which goes through the nervous system to the processing of the brain. Everything happens through our thoughts, and for every thought there is a counterpart in the visible world. But remember, the thought is always first.
This principle teaches us the basic lesson of Cosmos. The Cosmos is divided into two parts. The first part of the All is the masculine part. Jesus referred to this part as Father. Father is the only permanent thing in Cosmos. It has been, it is and it will be the same. This part we also call the Knowledge.
The second part of the All is feminine and called Life. If the masculine part is always permanent, the feminine part, Mother, is the one that refines and moves all the time. It is also called Nature. In humans the feminine part is the body and soul. The soul is our thoughts. Both body and soul refine all the time. The only permanent thing is Father, which in humans is Spirit. That is why Jesus called it the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of the Truth. Some Scripture texts call the Holy Spirit Father-Mother, because it includes both aspects of the All.
The teachers of wisdom have always applied the language of symbolism in describing ancient knowledge in order to secure the Knowledge. The human ego will always try to refine everything, which is why the most sacred and powerful things in Cosmos have been hidden as symbols. Symbolic language is, in a way, untainted: it will never change and it always carries the same meaning. It is permanent just like Father. To understand this language, one needs to first understand him/herself, and after that, the Rules of Creation, which include these seven principles.
The Principle of correspondence
The principle of correspondence teaches us in the Emerald Tablet: “That which is below is like that which is above that which is above is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing.” The illusion about a war between religions and science is only a product of our ego, which forces us always to choose an extreme of something. To better understand Cosmos, we need to understand one fact; whenever something is true, it has to appear in both worlds - in the scientific (physical) one and in the religious (mental) one. If either is missing, we cannot consider it to represent the truth.
You will notice that this principle was used by Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer as words Heaven and Earth. In the words of symbolism Jesus meant that a thought in heaven must also exists in the realm of our behavior on earth. If we only think about something, it is not the truth. The truth must appear in both worlds. This fact also works the other way around. If we see something extraordinary in the physical world, we cannot consider it the truth, before we have a thought to support its existence. This thought can be e.g. a mathematical equation, a Law of Cosmos etc.
One way of observing the Principle of Correspondence is by studying the geometrical shapes and mathematical equations appearing on all levels of Cosmos. For example, the Fibonacci numbers form a spiral, which can also be found in several plants, cones, shells, the cochlea of the human ear, concentrations of low and high pressures and spiral galaxies. Leonardo da Vinci spent many years studying the correspondence between Man and Cosmos.
This principle has not been understood this clearly before today. The researchers of the Renaissance era did not have tools to study the small world of Cosmos. They studied only macrocosm (the space, constellations and planets) and they partly misconceived man as macrocosm. However, man is in the middle, below which is the microcosm. Below what we are able to see and observe are cells, material structures, atoms - that level is the microcosm. We must understand the astrology to be the above, and correspondingly the alchemy to be the below in the physical Cosmos. In the mental Cosmos, our identity and thoughts are above, and correspondingly our deeds and environment are below. And altogether, our environment can be divided into astrology, alchemy and us humans in the middle. As we can see, in Cosmos everything is linked.
Alchemy and astrology can be mathematically seen as "worlds in the power of ten", the other is positive and the other is negative. E.g. the Sun (mean diameter 109 m) is approximately as big as the human DNA is small (10-9 m). When we go further, we will find the similarities in these two worlds. On the same never-ending scale they are just spots on the same line. In the future, our galaxies and atoms will be discovered to live by the same rules - the Rules of Creation, and these seven principles.
The Principle of Vibration
“Nothing rests, everything moves, everything vibrates.” (Three Initiates, 1912)
The sentence above says it all. The movement, refinement and vibration takes place in both worlds – scientists and hypnotists know this very well. All we can sense, we sense as vibration. Also, all the things we cannot sense vibrate, but their scale is just bigger or smaller than our senses can catch. Even thoughts can be measured as vibration with modern tools.
The principle of vibration occurs when you throw a stone in the lake. You will notice how the water vibrates everywhere outwards from the point of splash. All musical instruments vibrate, and the sound waves vibrate together with the eardrum in the ear when it receives the sound. The light vibrates from the Sun in all directions. Even the radio, television, microwave, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays and gamma-rays vibrate. Our own voice vibrates with every word we speak or whisper. In Cosmos there is nothing that exists without vibration.
Different prayer techniques such as hypnosis, autosuggestion, meditation, and shaman trances are based on finding and matching the equal levels of vibration of our heart-beat and bodily motions. For instance, the shaman drum first matches the heart beat and once it finds it, it can lead the heart beat and reach a connection to the brain. By first matching, and then leading, we can produce the results we are looking for with different prayer techniques.
The Principle of Polarity
“Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.” (Three Initiates, 1912)
The principle of polarity means that everything has its opposite. In both worlds, visible and invisible, all things can be measured, and considered on a scale with two extremes. The Earth has two poles; the opposite of a star is a black hole and the opposite of hate is caring. According to this law, we live in a dual world. This is also the core of the ying yang thinking.
One can use the principle of polarity for personal mental transformation processes. The Knowledge is the power that liberates you from mental difficulties. The more you know, the less you worry about things and feel fear.
The Principle of Polarity is also a tool to learn new things in Cosmos. Whenever we want to get familiar with something, we also need to know its opposite. For instance, we really cannot know the good unless we also have an understanding of evil. The good never exists without evil. Leonardo da Vinci wrote: there will sooner be light without shadow than virtue without envy. Another example is that Jesus spoke with both Father and Satan. To know the extreme of good, we need to know the extreme of evil, too.
Learning about the opposites is often the right thing to do. Our ego is the only one resisting the opinions and beliefs of other people. This is the wall between our personal development and the truthful view of Cosmos together with its Laws. The more we hate or feel disgusted and irritated by something, the more we should consider to study it further. The open mind is the narrow way that leads to the truth. Do not judge or measure before you have enough Knowledge.
The Principle of Rhythm
“Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.” (Three Initiates, 1912)
As everything moves in Cosmos, the Principle of Rhythm defines the pace and type of the movement. The Cosmos is moving with stars, constellations and planets. The time described in calendars is only spots in motion. A normal solar day has a rhythm of 24 hours, and therefore e.g. the six days of creation include six times 24 hours, totally 144 hours, which is also (72 + 72 = 3 x 24 + 3 x 24). A normal day is also divided into four parts, or daily seasons; morning, midday, evening, and night. Daily seasons follow the rhythm of (6 + 6 + 6 + 6) hours, and correspondingly a normal year follows the rhythm of (3 + 3 + 3 + 3) months, or 4 seasons.
Just like Nature and water on Earth have their rhythm, so do people and animals, together with energy. Our duty is to get familiar with ourselves, so we can plan our time to match our natural requirements. Some people need some time alone more than others. Some people cannot concentrate without more than 8 hours of sleep per night, while some will be sleepy all day, after sleeping more than 6 hours per night. Our natural rhythm can be found as soon as we bother to look for it and allow it enough space to be found. It is recommendable to keep a diary of your behavior and your needs and to synchronize it with a calendar. No-one can teach us about our personal rhythm, we can only teach what rhythm is - you will have to make to bigger effort for yourself.
Galileo Galilei's invention of the the pendulum-swing around 1602 is considered a good way to measure rhythm. Some teachers of wisdom say that people without Knowledge about Cosmos are like a pendulum-swing in the mental world. They are slaves to their subconscious habits. They live inside an illusion, and even think that they are free men and women, but in fact, the Knowledge is the only thing that really can liberate us. The things we know we can control, and even become the masters of.
The Principle of Cause and effect
“Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.” (Three Initiates, 1912)
One of our guidelines is that “nothing is a coincidence; there is only a lack of Knowledge". The easiest way to measure a person's practical wisdom is to study to what extent he/she applies this principle in his/her everyday life.
The principle of cause and effect is famous, because it is used in police work and investigations. This principle means that every event has a cause and effect. It also means that every effect is also a cause for something else, and every effect has cause or causes that were effects of another cause. This continuum can be viewed as far to the past as we would like to go, all the way to the point when the world was created. Of course we can do the opposite too, and make some serious predictions about the future.
We suggest everyone to make their own investigations about the creation of Cosmos, Earth and Man. The Bible calls certain men prophets, and the common factor among them is their understanding about the Rules of Creation. Whoever will find the first Thought and God's true name, will find out the same truth, because it is the truth.
The most effective way to quit smoking, for example, is to study all the causes behind the habit. You need to find out what is really happening inside your thoughts, when you continually choose to harm your body. As soon as the cause is discovered, the mental transformation is possible, and even easy to accomplish. Those people who think quitting smoking will result in a growth in appetite are mistaken. Different bad habits are usually the effects of one particular internal cause, such as a sense of unworthiness. Without changing the deepest origin of smoking, a person will resort to gluttony, for instance, after quitting smoking. To live a healthy life requires a healthy mind, and therefore it is crucial to cure the deeper levels of our thoughts and identity before proceeding to change e.g. our daily behavior.
The Principle of Gender
“Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes.” (Three Initiates, 1912)
The principle of gender means that everything has two poles or two genders – the masculine and the feminine. In the physical world this translates into negativity and positivity in magnetism, and of course female and male individuals in biology. Even the human zygote (the fertilized egg) has two poles at the beginning.
Every single person has both sides, the masculine one and the feminine. Our duty is once more to seek the balance. When our sides are out of balance, we try to judge other people because of their different behavior, and hence cause only suffering to ourselves and to our families. If we hate or prefer either gender, we need to learn more about ourselves and the causes that lead us to behave the way we do. The words average and normal are only man-made beliefs that have nothing in common with the truth. E.g. among people, every man and woman has been created into the form of their family bloodlines. No-one is preferred or more blessed than someone else. In the human puzzle, every piece has its pair, and the correct pairs cannot be formed unless we will think and behave as we really are - behind the veil.
In the mental world there is a masculine and feminine side to every person, too. Probably a big surprise for many people is that the name of Christian and Jewish God can be translated as I AM (Exodus 3:14). The word 'I' means the masculine power, Father, thought or Knowledge that stands still, and correspondingly the word 'AM' means the feminine power, Nature and Life that is always in motion. This is a great evidence that God is a dual in character with two genders - of course it is, because everything in Cosmos is.
We can put this same information into the concepts of so-called modern psychology. The masculine aspect inside us stands for our thoughts. The feminine aspect refines the masculine into something. For instance, the Word is something that describes the original Thought (of God), and also the Deed is our Thought in action, or in motion. That is why the Word and the Deed are the feminine aspects of us.
